Pray for Alabama

Mother Nature has apparently been in quite a bad mood these past few days. We have had absolutely terrible weather! It's been storming non-stop here in Memphis.

However, our thunderstorms, tornado warnings, and high winds are nothing compared to what Alabama and parts of Arkansas have gone through.

Looking through pictures from all of the devastation is heartbreaking.

This was the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I can't even imagine. The devastation is just terrible. Let's all keep those impacted by these devastating storms in our thoughts and prayers.

New Nails

So, while in Nashville a couple weeks ago, I noticed a friend of mine had these fabulous leopard print nails. I asked her, "Are those the Sally Hansen stickers? I've seen those commercials but didn't know if they really worked."

She proceeded to tell me that yes, they do in fact work. That they were pretty easy to put on and seemed to last (they claim they can last up to 10 days).

A few days ago, I was at Target because I needed just one thing. However, if you love Target like I do, you can never leave with just one thing. I stumbled into the nail section and there they were. I figured what the heck might as well try them.

I snatched up a box of the leopard print and made my way home.

The box contains 16 strips (thank goodness because I messed up one three!), a wood stick (to push back cuticles), and a small nail file (to get the excess off). Both ends of the strips are rounded so that they can ideally fit almost any nail size. After I got the hang of them, it took me maybe 15 minutes to put them all on. Just take your time because if you mess one up and try to peel it off your nail, it can be hard to get them to adhere nicely the second time.

I loved the way they turned out! I have gotten so many compliments on them. They still look great (I've had them on for 4 days now). I'll keep you posted on how they wear for the next few days.

It almost looks like they are silver with leopard, but the silver isn't as prominent in person. I blame the flash!

Overall a really fun, quick "manicure" with NO dry time! Just stick on, file, and go!

Here's a link to Sally Hansen's sight to check out all the other colors available. I think these are available at most drugstores or Target/Walmart type places.

Easter Weekend (including my "accident")

Wow. What a weekend!

Friday was pretty low-key, so nothing too exciting to report. However, on Saturday one of my best friends was in town from Charleston, so of course that meant girls night out! It was such a crazy night. The Grizzlies won their game (which was IN Memphis) against the Spurs so Beale Street was jam-packed afterwards! But we fought through the crowds and off we went to our favorite bar on Beale Street, Silky O'Sullivans!

The "accident" I'm referring to is that I took about zero six pictures this WHOLE weekend. For those that know me, I am a picture nazi. Whenever I go anywhere or do anything I'm more than likely taking a picture. However, like I said I only had six pictures and they were all from downtown (girl's night). This means that D and I took ZERO pictures together on Easter. Zilch. Nada. Nope. Try again later. Oh well....I guess this means I get to wear my Easter dress again sometime soon and no one will know :)

Here's a couple pictures from our girl's night out:

The girl on the left is the one that left me to move to Charleston...
Ignore the giant white dot on my eyeball. Not sure why that's there?

Some guys from a bachelor party decided to crash our picture.

I'm still in shock that I have zero pictures from Easter! Hope everyone had a fabulous Easter weekend!

Thank Goodness...

It's been a long time coming....

Stefano has needed to go for awhile. How he even made it this far is amazing to me. Pia was so much better, and she never deserved to go home before you. Even Paul in his crazy flower suits was better. So thank you fellow Americans for finally seeing the light. Sorry Stefano.......it was time.

Dear Michael Buble,

We have a problem...

While I am so excited that you chose Memphis as one of the stops on your upcoming tour.....I can't go. D's sister is getting married that same weekend so I'm sorry Michael, but you get booted off the top of my priority list. (Trust me any other weekend and I would be there in a heartbeat!!)

I would be happy to drive to a city nearby and see you concert, BUT

and here's where the problem comes in Michael....

You're not coming anywhere else even close to Memphis!!

Louisville, KY: 6 hours
Toledo, OH: 10 hours
Springfield, MO: 5 1/2 hours
Des Moines, IA: 10 hours
Moline, IL: 8 1/2 hours

You get the picture. Yes some of these are possible, BUT I was talking more like a quick trip not a full on vacay.

So I'm sorry Michael.....we will have to rekindle our romance on your NEXT tour. Please let me know the dates in advance so I can be available.

Fresh Flowers

Does anyone else notice what a good mood fresh flowers put you in? Now yes D is very good about surprising me with flowers for no reason at all; however, almost every time I go to the grocery store I come back with flowers. Even if they are for no reason other than to be pretty, they just make me happy whenever I walk by them. These are the ones I picked up at the store yesterday:

Lilies are my absolute favorite flower in the world, so naturally my arrangement had to have them (even if they haven't bloomed yet). I just wanted to share my love affair with fresh flowers!! :)

Memphis Grizzlies

So it's finally happened....what's that you ask?

The Memphis Grizzlies won a playoff game and are actually ahead in their series against the Spurs 1-0.

 "Grizz"

For those of you that don't know, I am a part of a rare breed of women that actually enjoy talking about sports. I love it. I voluntarily turn on SportsCenter.

Game 2 of the Grizz-Spurs series is tonight and most of Memphis is on the edge of their seat. Can the Grizzlies really do it? Go from playoff obscurity to winning a series? (before Sunday's playoff victory against the Spurs, the Grizzlies were 0-12 in playoff games). Who knows.....

BUT if Memphis can win another game in San Antonio and come back to play in Memphis on Saturday with a 2-0 lead in the series....some Memphians might consider that a victory. However, most would much rather that the Grizzlies be the first to win 4 games and advance into the next round of the playoffs. So here's hoping that the Grizzlies can pull off another great victory just like Sunday night. I think the entire city might spontaneously combust from excitement if the Grizz can pull this out.

I could probably go on for days BUT that's all about sports for now.

Quick Trip to Nashvegas

I know it's been way too long since my last post...things have been a little hectic! My to-do list somehow kept getting longer. I felt like every time I checked one thing off, I had to add two more. However, this was one of the best weekends I've had in awhile! I got to see some of my favorite people. A good friend was in town from Florida (due to my to-do list I did not get to see him as much as I would have liked!). A group of us went out to a local bar and had a blast! I hate he had to move so far away!

My Florida Friend, Wes

My BFFFFF (I'm aware there are a few
extra F's in there), Alex

Just being silly since most of the boys were ignoring
us and playing virtual golf!

BUT, the best part of the whole weekend was Saturday night. After a quick three hour drive up Interstate 40 to Nashville, it was time to celebrate one of my best friend's bachelorette parties! Woohoo! We had a small group of girls, but it was absolutely perfect! No drama, chick fights, drunk girls puking, dancing on bars. Perfect Girl's Night Out. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that Broadway is such a fun place to go out. I'm used to having a "party street" in Memphis (Beale), BUT Broadway is a pretty darn good time. The hardest part of the trip was leaving. A.) I absolutely love Nashville (I could see myself living there in a heartbeat!), B.) I was extremely sleepy (late night + pull out couch + early morning = long 3 hour drive back to Memphis), and C.) While I love seeing my friends that live there, I hate leaving them!!

The girls before heading Downtown

The bachelorette!! (I stole her veil for
a couple pictures)

Thomas (who has also left me and
moved to Nashville!) found us out downtown!

We accumulated a few props while we were out!

After coming back to Memphis, I found out D was really sick :( We had to take him to the Minor Med last night. After filling prescriptions, pumping him full of Gatorade, and 2894626 countless hours of sleep, he's feeling a little better today. This boy NEVER gets sick (so not fair!), and he hates going to the doctor. When he told me he WANTED to go see a doctor, I knew this was for real.  Hopefully he gets better this week so we can watch the Grizzlies playoff games. (Still can't believe they won this weekend!! What a game!!)

A Little Bit of This and That

I've had a lot of my plate lately and was feeling totally uninspired on what to write about SO I figured this could be fun!

A. AREA CODE : The 901!

B. BED SIZE: Queen

C. CHORE YOU HATE: Laundry....It's called a "chore" for a reason

D. DOG'S NAME: Scooter

E. ESSENTIAL "START THE DAY!" ITEM: Under-eye concealer...Thanks for the bags Dad :)

F. FAVORITE COLOR: PINK!

G. GOLD OR SILVER: Depends on where it's being used...most of my nice jewelry is White Gold and my weekend jewelry is Gold. I really like them both.

H. HEIGHT: 5'5"

I. INSTRUMENTS YOU PLAY: zilch...

J. JOB: Still searching!

K. KIDS: None yet (one day!)

L. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: A house with D & Scoots

M. MOM'S NAME: Sandra aka "Mama Sandy"

N. NICKNAME: My dad calls me "Wonderful Daughter," D calls me "KLC," K-rims, Kara Beara or K-kid (these last 2 were only when I was a kid BUT they drove me INSANE for some reason!)

O. OVERNIGHT HOSPITAL STAY: Asthma attack, age 3...I was in the hospital for 3 days

P. PET PEEVE: Ignorance. People starting drama just because. When people can't take a hint. When people are rude while driving (Memphis is full of them) and then give me dirty looks as if it was my fault they swerved out of their lane because they are trying to eat lunch, put on makeup, talk on the phone, shave their legs, and do their taxes during their commute.

Q. QUOTE FROM A MOVIE: I don't know if I could pick a favorite because there are so many quotes that have found a home in my almost daily vocabulary.

R. RIGHTY OR LEFTY?: Righty

S. SIBLINGS: 1

T. TIME YOU WAKE UP: I was never able to sleep in as a child. If I slept past 9:30 I felt like the entire day was wasted. The morning of my 16th birthday I slept until noon, and my parents came upstairs to make sure I was okay and didn't need to go to the hospital. Now I absolutely love being able to sleep in, although I rarely get the chance!

U. UNDERWEAR: Of course

V. VEGGIE YOU DISLIKE: Onions....they are absolutely disgusting, yuck-ola, grody, nasty little boogers.

W. WAYS/REASONS YOU ARE LATE: I am the slowest person ever when it comes to getting ready....seriously! My friends have on occasion lied about the time something starts in order to assure I'm on time!

X. XRAYS YOU'VE HAD: My chest twice (once for pneumonia and the other following a car wreck), my neck/head (following the same car wreck), My foot (thought I might have broken a toe), and I think that's it...

Y. YUMMY FOOD YOU MAKE: D's mom gave me a great rice pilaf recipe (It's super simple but a yummy side item!) and I also love making Turkey Chili

Z. ZOO ANIMALS YOU LIKE: My favorite animal of all time is a penguin. They are just the cutest things!!! However at the Memphis Zoo (which has constantly been a top the best Zoo's in the country!), I love to see the flamingos, pandas, the farm animals (our Zoo has a really cute Farm set up!), and basically all of them :) Yes I'm 23 and we have a Zoo membership...

Well that was fun!
So I'm really looking forward to this upcoming week because a friend that moved away to Florida just got into town. The Peabody Hotel's Rooftop Parties start up this Thursday with Ingram Hill (a great band from Memphis!). They are every Thursday for the rest of the summer, and they're so much fun!

And then this weekend I'll be going to Nashville for one of my best friend's bachelorette party! Even though Nashville is such a fun city and only 3 hours from Memphis, I feel like I never get there enough. I'm so excited to see some great friends and celebrate!! I'll be sure to post some pictures from these next few eventful days!
Until next time....

The Weather is Finally Great!!

After an unusually cold winter (for Memphis that is), I am so excited that the weather is finally getting warmer! I'm starting to finally believe that it's April! In celebration of this fabulous weather, D and I are heading downtown with some friends to go to a Memphis Redbirds game. (The Redbirds are Memphis' Minor League baseball team) I'm so excited at the thought of finally dusting off my sundresses and sandals. I may love clothes, BUT big sweaters, pants, and boots just aren't my style. So anything that combines my love of sports and sundresses is A-OK is my book! I can't wait to get out in this fabulous weather (I forgot how amazing 80+ degrees feels!) and see some good friends. I'm going to enjoy this pleasant, spring weather while I can because Memphis summers are notorious for being absolutely sweltering. Hope everyone is enjoying great weather where you are!

Let's Get This Party Started

I am extremely new to blogging, but I've always wanted one so hey, why not? Just to clear a few things up: No, I am not overly concerned with every female having lip gloss on her every time she leaves the house. However, you will never (never say never!) catch me out without mine! This blog is simply a place to "organize" all of my crazy thoughts and talk about my interests--doesn't hurt that I absolutely love talking...especially about myself :) Quick get to know me...I absolutely love living in the South and can't imagine living anywhere else, My boyfriend (Dustin) and I have been together for a little over 3 years, I love love love sports (especially college football & basketball), I'm attempting to become a good cook (like my dad!), I take entirely too long to get ready, I am obsessed with my dog (Scooter), I am a strong advocate for retail therapy, I probably will not talk about politics with you (you're lucky if I tell you who I'm voting for), and I love to write.

Dustin and I at a Grizzlies game

Scooter at his 4th birthday party

So.......Until next time!
